Description: Construction of a Multi-Purpose Community Centre
Type of Work: The work will involve mixing of concrete and mortar, carting of blocks, sand, water, etc. Volunteers will also assist masons in laying blocks. The work will be done by using hand tools like piçkaxes, shovels, spades, etc. No previous experience in construction is required. The participants will work with the local community on the project.
Since the work involves construction, volunteers are advised to bring along clothes, shoes and gloves that are suitable for physical work.
Study Theme: The study theme of this workcamp is ‘Culture in Diversity’. In this camp, volunteers from various cultural backgrounds will experience the coexistence and celebration of different cultures and traditions within a community, society, or organization. Through this, volunteers will appreciate and value the differences in cultures and traditions; share and learn from each others cultures and be in better position to celebrate the richness and complexity of human experiences and foster a more vibrant, tolerant, and harmonious society.
Accommodation: The volunteers will stay in a private self-contained rooms with running water.
Volunteers will also stay in shared rooms in small groups. The bathrooms and toilets will be shared by volunteers.
The volunteers will prepare their own meals with assistance from the women from the community.

Requirements: Volunteers are expected to book for their participation in the programme at least two weeks to the commencement of the camp.
Location: Alavanyo Dzogbedze.
Alavanyo Dzogbedze is a farming community with beautiful landscape and scenery in the Hohoe Municipality in the Volta Region of Ghana. It is about 26 kilometres from Hohoe and 8 kilometres from Kpando.
While in Alavanyo Dzogbedze, volunteers will have the opportunity to vist Tsatsadu Waterfalls and Tsatsadu Mini Hydro Project (6 km away) at Alavanyo Abeheniase, Wli Waterfalls -12 km away (the highest in West Africa), Mount Afadjato (the higest mountain in Ghana), Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary (home of mona monkeys), Kpando Torkor (Fishing Habour), and many others.

Notes: In all the workcamps, volunteers may be required to clearn where they live.
Participation fee will cover the following:
– Accommodation during workcamp
– Accommodation before workcamp
– Food (local food-3 times a day during workcamps)
– Airport pickup
– Orientation
– Administrative expenses

Paticipation fee does not cover the following:
– Airfare
– Visa and visa extension fee
– Airport taxes
– Laundry
– Communication and internet services
– Personal expenses on food and travel, mineral water and soft drinks
– Health and Travel Insurance, Medical Care and Personal Medicine.
– Gifts to friends, etc.
