Description: Youth Action for Protecting Cultural Heritage.
Type of Work: The project will involve painting and cleanup of Ussher Fort, engaging volunteers and local youth to maintain the site’s appearance and integrity. Workshops and forums will be organized with stakeholders to discuss sustainable preservation strategies and encourage community-led initiatives. Educational outreach programs will target schools to create heritage ambassadors among students.
The CHALE WOTE and WOMBA Street Art Festivals will serve as platforms for art exhibitions, storytelling, and performances at the fort, highlighting its historical significance and promoting heritage preservation messages. Local and international volunteers and artists will collaborate to create murals and installations inspired by Ussher Fort’s history. Advocacy campaigns, reenactments, and cultural activities during these festivals will amplify awareness of the fort’s legacy while engaging a wider audience.

Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in an accommodation equipped with electricity and toilets facilities.
Language: English
Requirements: Volunteers are expected to book for their participation in the programme at least two weeks to the commencement of the camp.
Location: Ussher Fort, Greater Accra Region.
Notes: In all the workcamps, volunteers may be required to clearn where they live.
Participation fee will cover the following:
– Accommodation during workcamp
– Accommodation before workcamp
– Food (local food-3 times a day during workcamps)
– Airport pickup
– Orientation
– Administrative expenses
Paticipation fee does not cover the following:
– Airfare
– Visa and visa extension fee
– Airport taxes
– Laundry
– Communication and internet services
– Personal expenses on food and travel, mineral water and soft drinks
– Health and Travel Insurance, Medical Care and Personal Medicine.
– Gifts to friends, etc.
